Bret McDaniel AAA State Champ; Girls Team State Runner Up

The Riverwood girls team is the AAA State Runner-Up!
The team had pinned its hopes on a State Championship after a top ranking most of the season and top four finishes in recent years, but is proud to claim State Runner-Up.
Champion Columbus ran a very strong race, but Riverwood was not far behind: Columbus 116, Riverwood 132, Woodward 146, and West Forsyth 151 points.

Riverwood junior Bret McDaniel is the Girls AAA State Champion after the cool morning 5K at the GHSA Championship Meet in Carrollton, GA.
Bret beat Kiara McCue-Woods of Flowery Branch by over 20 seconds, with a time of 18:44. Other Riverwood runners included Blais Hickey, Beatriz Labrada, Meredith Toman, Alden Elliott, Elizabeth Nailing and Julia Reisman, who turned in some of their top times of the season.
The Riverwood Boys Cross Country team finished 18th in the State running strong with 3 freshmen in the top three spots. All seven runners finished in under 20 minutes, which bodes well for next year. The State team was led by Daniel Cohen at 18:07, followed by James Ryden, Phillip Jones, Lee Sheppard, Brian Patton, Ryan Snyder and Jeffrey Klein.
The Riverwood girls team is coached by Isaac Seals, and the boys team by Jon Griffith.
